Here's a brief of DB2 on Campus program :
Take advantage of the IBM® DB2® on Campus Program and advance your career prospective.
The DB2 on Campus Program is a free offering with one goal, to increase the number of students with DB2 skills. Through the program, you receive seminars, workshops, books and DVDs about DB2, the leading data server software from IBM. Other related software such as Rational Data Architect (a data modeling tool), and IBM Data Studio (an Eclipse-based tool for database application development and management) are also introduced.
Through the program, you can network with IBM employees from different parts of the world such as the IBM Toronto software laboratory where DB2 is developed. The program starts with a seminar delivered by an IBM DB2 Technical expert. By participating in this program, you get the chance to become a DB2 Student Ambassador, a student working voluntarily to promote the use of DB2 in your university community.
By becoming a DB2 Student Ambassador you can:
- Obtain an IBM letter of recommendation for your achievements as a DB2 ambassador
- Have a chance to be featured on the IBM DB2 Express-C web site
- Gain valuable DB2 skills as well as presentation, marketing, and sales skills
- Be recognized amongst your peers and university faculty
- Network with future employers using DB2
- Receive direct support from the DB2 Express-C Team
- Receive perks such as free t-shirts
Participating in the DB2 on Campus program leads to obtaining DB2 on Campus Diplomas, offered by the DB2 on Campus community, which attest you have DB2 skills worth the equivalent of at least 12 hours of hands-on instruction in DB2 for database administration, programming, and XML. If you are more ambitious and have more time to prepare, you may want to get the IBM DB2 Certification. Through the DB2 Elite for Academics promotion, the IBM Database Associate certification exam is free!
If you are interested in the DB2 on Campus Program, contact us at db2univ@ca.ibm.com or visit our web site at ibm.com/db2/express/students.html. You can also visit the student community Web site at www.DB2onCampus.org
And by the way, the “Express-C” edition of DB2 is totally free! DB2 Express-C is free to build, deploy, and distribute. There are no limits! DB2 Express-C includes pureXML™, the latest technology for natively storing and manipulating XML documents.
